GIBSON Laura Gibson is one of four partners who founded Ogden, Gibson, Broocks & Longoria, L.L.P. in 1993. The firm is certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. Prior to forming the firm, Ms. Gibson was a trial partner with Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon (now known as Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell) in Houston, Texas. Ms. Gibson is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has extensive trial and appellate experience handling complex commercial litigation and arbitrations in areas involving employment, energy, securities, banking, copyright and communications law. She has handled arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers, the Financial Industry Regulating Authority (FINRA) and the American Arbitration Association. Ms. Gibson has served on the Advertising Review Committee for the State Bar of Texas since 2004. She served as Vice-Chair of the committee in 2006. In 2007, she was reappointed to the committee for a three year term and was named Chair of the committee where she continues to serve. Ms. Gibson has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine for 2004, 2007 and 2008. She is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America® 2009 in the field of Labor and Employment Law (Copyright 2008 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Ms. Gibson is a member of the Labor and Employment, Litigation, Appellate and Securities Litigation & Arbitration Sections of the Houston Bar Association and is a Past Chair of the HBA Labor and Employment Section. She is also a Director for the HBA Litigation Section. Since 2006, she has served on the Board of Directors for the HBA. She is President of the Houston Lawyer Referral Service (2008-09) and in the past served as Co-Chair of the Judicial Polls Committee, as Co-Chair of the HBA Institutes Sub-Committee of the CLE Committee and on the Minority Opportunities in the Law Committee. She also currently serves on the HBA Adopt a School Committee. Ms. Gibson serves on the Steering Committee for the Texas Minority Counsel Program (2007-2009) where she will serve as Co-Chair in 2009. She is a member of the ABA Labor and Employment and Litigation Sections. Ms. Gibson is also a member of the Association of Women Attorneys. Ms. Gibson is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. She is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Society of Human Resource Management, HR Houston, where she chairs the Legislative Action Committee, the Legal and Compliance Division of the Securities Industry Association and Leadership Houston (Class XVIII) where she serves as General Counsel and the Greater Houston Partnership – Executive Women’s Partnership Committee (Leadership Council). Ms. Gibson currently teaches as an adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy for the University of Houston Law Center. She also teaches as an instructor at the NITA National Session, the Southern Regional Trial Advocacy Program at the SMU School of Law and the University of Houston Deposition NITA Program. She obtained her B.S. from Texas A&M University in 1982, and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in December 1984, where she graduated in the top 15% of her class and served on the Board of Advocates.
